Default James Cawley the new movie

Do you think since J.J. has asked James Cawley to be in his film it lends anymore
acceptance to the New Voyages episodes?

LOL

No, they will never be considered canon.

Personally I find them to be ridiculous, but that's just my opinion.

Have you seen World Enough And Time? How would you compare that to some actual TOS episodes, hmmm? Certainly better than Spock's Brain I should think.

I gotta say. That was very good. It was a little choppy getting into it but once old Sulu beamed onto the Enterprise, it was very good from then on. Very good.
So in the spirit of constructive critisism-
If Cawley's going to keep this thing going, I really think he should get someone else to play Kirk. He comes off as a Shatner impersonator. I don't care for the actor playing Scott either. It looks like they got someone new playing Spock so we'll see how that turns out. They have kick *** effects but the acting & some of the sets don't jive with it. I realize that this thing is near & dear to Cawley's heart & he's a purist but I think he needs to let the role go to someone younger & bring in some artists who can amp up the sets & bit & still keep them pure & get a director who can pull something more from the actors & get a new Scott.

But you have to admit, World Enough and Time was about as close as anyone could get to recreating TOS

It's a series of fan created episodes of "TOS".

I guess I never got into the fan fiction stuff. I was watching "where no man has gone before" last night and was thinking that it would be a mistake not to include garry mitchell in the movie in some capacity.

And just what has anyone here done that has come even close to the efforts those at STNV have accomplished? I think ''ridiculous'' is a bit harsh of a blanket comment to apply to a hybrid group of professionals and non-professionals who do what they do in the best spirit of all that is Star Trek and for no financial gain. I hope this board doesn't become a shrill ''name-calling'' brother to the StarTrek.com board. I think we can be just a little more accommodating and civil here.
