Default Orci and QM

Orci's last interview told us that the new movie is now a parallel universe. Who is now turned off this movie? Or more in excited? My opinion of the movie(so far) is meh. I don't care about alternate universes really. This new movie doesn't do anything for me since it's outside the main continuity.

I feel still excited, now that the explanation for the discrepancies is now out there, I feel it's a great way of going back to the start and freeing themselves from the burden of 40 years history without erasing it from having happened.

Everyone says that but what does it mean? All Enterprise needed was good writing. That show had great sets, effects, and everything else but writing. The stories weren't all that great which is why the show failed. Whether you like canon or not it is what has made Trek unique and long lasting. I always assumed that the new movie took place in/or created an alternate timeline. The story seems run of the mill blockbuster movie material to me. <- MY OPINION

In a Mirror, Darkly was also outside the main continuity...

I for one don't mind it. If you look at it from a true point, then what you can say is that the standard trek universe is a lot of multiple universes tied together, for all we know towards the end of the movie they finally fix things so there is no true discrepincy which could be part of the story. So we could see the what if and the what was because of this.

Isn't it funny though, that Kirk has like the most temporal violations in "history" and he learned it from none other than Old Spock--not to mention the cheating thing.

Edit: And there's your paradox. Kirk teaches Spock to cheat and use time travel to his advantage, then Spock goes back in time and teaches it to Kirk.
