Default USS ENTERPRISE not to be seen until the end

My guess is that the USS ENTERPISE is under construction during the beginning of Kirk's time in Star Fleet and we will not see the NCC 1701 until the middle of the end of the new movie.

Or under refit.

The second trailer would seem to suggest otherwise. We have shots of the Enterprise leaving a space station, shots of activity on the bridge of the Enterprise, and a shot of the Enterprise encountering a debris field. It would seem that we shall see more of the ship than a mere two or three minutes of finale. I would expect the entire second hour of the film to be set on board the Enterprise. The first hour will doubtless be background on major characters and the setup of the main plot. That would be my guess.

That sounds about right.

I think the Enterprise will be seen throughout the movie at different points.

- When Kirk sees it on the way to join Starfleet (under construction).
- A few years later, Kirk and crew go aboard the Enterprise for the first time under Pike.

From there, I suspect it'll be the central ship in the story, and we follow Kirk's transition to command, and the mission of the Enterprise under Pike.

The end of the movie may be Kirk taking command for the first time, and then ordering the ship into danger and saving the day in some fashion.

I would have happily bet my next child that we wouldn't see the new Enterprise before the movie was released.... Of course, as I'm pushing 50 (3 months to go) there's little chance of a next child and apparently Abrams has other ideas of what needs to be held back for excitement....

I think it's: NIMOY.

That's what he's holding back for the movie release.

I concur. Nimoy's presence and his role are going to be the most special, touching and perhaps the most memorable of this film. I believe that. Because it will be the old Star Trek saying goodbye. Like Father Time saying goodbye to the baby New Year.

I guess that there will be a saucer separation. Then the saucer is the only remaining part and the rest will be destroyed and has to be rebuilt

Between Pike and Kirk, we've 'got to' see the Enterprise in SOME form through the film... or what ship are they captaining the whole time?

So when the cadets are ready to go to their assigned ships the shuttle with "NCC 1701" is going to a different ship?
