Is this the other viral marketing we were told about? I hope not, I was hoping for something more along the lines of what Adam's does for Lost, like the NCC1701 shipyard site.

This is not a viral marketing site, these are just pages for fans to join in, if you are a part of one of these communities.

As some of you may already know, the folks at ILM have had an ongoing bit of fun with the films they have worked on since Star Wars, Close Encounters, etc. They like to put an R2-D2 easter egg somewhere in the film to see if it is spotted.
Apparently, the new Star Trek film is no different! It was ILM (damn good job yooz guys!) that did the effects, so there is an R2-D2 easter egg. Check out the link below for a Sweepstakes involving the crossover of everyone's favorite trashcan to the Trek universe! http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=80929709882&ref=mf -JediTray http://home.comcast.net/~jeditray/ |

hmmm....having mixed feelings....as the parent of a 13 year old....my space is scary and should not be encouraged.
Question for you Blue...are we being encouraged to join those forums because these forums are going to be killed? I mean...if we're here being happy and this board is going to continue, why should we relocate? I'm not trying to be obnoxious but if this board is going to be killed then yeah, I'll join one of those communities. But, as I'm not a member, I see no reason to if this board is expected to go on because, frankly, I like it here. So, just let me know whether I need to go sign up for Facebook or MySpace, okay?

I believe it's very common for films to have presences on ALL such social networking sites (MySpace, Facebook, etc.) -- one needn't replace the other at all.
