Default Anti-Trek discrimination?

Aside from the usual "getting beat up in school at recess" stories, how many of you have suffered "ATD" in your everyday lives?

I think the worst incident for me was when, in community college taking some programming courses, I came back out to the parking lot, and found someone had painted both the word "f****t" and "Live long and prosper" on my old cargo van I was driving at the time.

Luckily, the security video caught the jocks responsible. They could have been expelled, but I settled for an apology and them paying for a repaint job. (The fact that I didn't want them tossed out of school also gained me a few points with them. The harassment stopped.)

I think the ones who put Trek down are actually closet Trek fans themselves. They're just small insecure people who seem to need to goad someone else about something they themselves do. That gives them some sort of bully security blanket, because they somehow feel guilty about watching Trek themselves. It seems like it's always the finger pointers who never realize that one finger pointed at you means they're pointing three back at themselves.

I might has posted this before but when I ws in high school my best friend would be be discussing the latest episode of Trek or Star Wars book and some one walked up to us and said "You know that stuff is fake right" I looked at them straight faced and said "Star Trek is Fake. But Star Wars is real cause it happened a long time ago in a galaxy far far away." THey never bugged us again.

I was the guy who beat up the guys who tried to pick on the geeks. I was a "cool guy" who was smart, had more in common with the geeks.
