Default I'm just going to think positively

I'm just going to think positive thoughts that this movie will do really well. I think the fact that it's going to feature Captain Kirk and Leonard Nimoy will really bring back people who got lost with the Next Generation era. Don't get me wrong, I totally love the TNG era of Star Trek, I just feel that if this film is going to appeal to general audiences who don't know any better, it might be twice as successful.

A perfect example of the general public:

One Halloween many years ago, I dressed up as Picard during his years on Enterprise-D. One person saw me walking by with a friend and said, "Hey, it's Star Wars!" We both just laughed lol, but I realized how accustomed people were to Wars and how they associated it with Trek just because of the "Star". Earlier that evening, one of the moms at the kids house I went to said, "Hello Captain Kirk." I'm like, "Hey, nice to see you." I didn't even bother to correct them. But I figured that they didn't know any better. And these were people who, I'm sure knew what Star Trek was, but only the obvious parts about it. As for the person who said Star Wars...lol I never got over that. That cracked me up! lol

Wise words! No amount of fretting on our part will change anything. (Except maybe make it so NO movie could measure up to the hype we place upon it?)

When I walked to a friend's house on Sep 8 2006 (the 40th birthday), two kids passed by on bikes. They were perhaps 12 or so and their eyes grew when they saw me. I was wearing a First Contact Captain's uniform... and they just looked at me, stunned. Their heads were turning with opened mouths - and then they would have crashed into a parked car if I hadn't warned them They didn't even look to where they were riding...

It made me happy to see that even 12 year old people seem to recognize a Trek uniform and be stunned by it.

Yeah, Star Trek uniforms totally rock! Especially compared to Stargate or Battlestar Galactica.

You'd be surprised how many teenagers are big fans of Trek.

Did you shave your head for the part?
