Default Possibility of Captain Worf series?

http://screenrant.com/star-trek-capt...=zergnet_30196

Saw this link easrlier, apparently Michael Dorn is keen on the idea of a Worf show, so this would be another 24th century prime universe series, be cool to see, but I personally don't think it would happen, and if it did I couldn't see it lasting.

Yeah, I don't see it happening either. Everything has its time, and the time to do this would have been 10-15 years ago. Star Trek Excelsior, Star Trek The Third Generation, Star Trek KLINGON!! and any other pipe-dream spin-offs put forward are 2nd Generation concepts by this point. We're in 3rd Generation ST now, and it's still too early to say what all that means. Though it seems to mean ST moves forward as a 'movie' franchise and TV isn't happening. The market is (presumably) no longer there to support hardware-oriented sci-fi on television.

Cool

Not to mention the plain fact that CBS has expressed absolutely no interest in getting a new Trek series off the ground, they simply want to milk every dime they can out of the existing material and collect their cut from Paramount from the movies.

Understandable, given how the last series performed.

Plus the market for TV is now presumably spread so thin, across so many channels and diminished by other forms of electronic media, that 'cult' shows can't really afford to be made anymore especially if the production cost is high. I mean maybe you could do ST for TV in a more limited format, however we 'may' already be passing the point where even producing it in a 10-episodes-per-season format wouldn't be profitable.

It has had its time really and continuous reruns for the next many a year is all I expect to see.

Begs the question though, would people want a series with Captain Michael Dorn at the helm?

I think ENT and the two aborted Galactica spin-offs have both answered that.

Really, I've come to think Galactica was the last of the great space operas for TV. And I'm fine with it remaining that way. Between Star Trek, ST:TNG, and the rebooted Galactica (not to mention more 'cult' shows such as B5, Firefly and Farscape), I suspect the (televised) space opera has run its course.

I'm kinda coming round to the idea that a new weekly series is either a long way off or possibly just now viable right now given the way TV is changing.

Plus, as noted, CBS doesn't seem interested anyway.
