For anyone thinking "Who?"... suffice to say this is really discouraging news, people. I just is.

That would be my hope at this point.

So, I'm the only one who would have prefered Del Tormo had remained the director? I for one am sorry to see him go...

Im starting to wonder if this movie will ever come into production given all the trouble it has had.

This is the one Tolkien movie I'm actually quite interested to see, and of course it will take forever to make it...lol

My attitude is, we already have the real story. There's no reason this one 'needs' to be made if it can't have a top notch director.

I'd be totally cool with Jackson directing it, except I 'kinda' got the impression he didn't want to go through that again. Wasn't Sam Rami being considered at one point? I feel like that says something about Jackson's enthusiasm to direct another Tolkien movie.

I got the impression that Del Toro - who probably would have made a good stab of it - simply wasn't willing to wait around any longer to get the movie finally greenlit. Which it presently isn't due to the MGM financial mess at present.

It's a shame. But he has a lot of other projects he wants to do and I don't suppose he can sit and wait forever.
