You know, something bothers me with the Romulan thing in XI...
Doesn't anyone remember the episode "Balance Of Terror"? The UFP and Starfleet never SAW a Romulan til then... and the last conflict with them was 100 years before (and then it was without visual ship tp ship communication).
I will assume that the Federation doesn't actually know that Nero is a Romulan in ST:XI, though...
