I worry that "Darkness" is just one more foray into the "uber-realism" or "grittiness" that has been all the trend for awhile now. I think it will die out eventually and taste will turn back to something less "real", or pardon the pun . . .

Doesn't preclude it from working well, a-la BSG (IMHO), but i fear it may be more script-tripe.
