I ended up seeing it today and while the Verhoeven version isn't quaking in it's boots I have to say I sorta enjoyed in a junky sort of way. And, most importantly...........it's not as bad as Battleship! It's basically non stop action really but on a dull afternoon it's glossy CGI and Kate Beckinsale in evil mode didn't make it a total bust.
