It takes place about 50 years before the holo message that the almost 80 year old Weyland records for the crew of the Prometheus. I think that holo message mentions that the voyage of the Prometheus is set to take place 20 years after the holo message is being recorded (2073), making the events in Prometheus happening in 2093.
