Americans do know how to make beer. They just don't know how to make that over-fermented sewer backwash that others "call" beer.

But on a serious note, though, Americans tend to prefer their chocolate very sweet and creamy, while Europeans (mostly Brits, it seems) not so much, IMO. While neither Americans or Europeans can claim to have invented chocolate, I do think the
process to create milk chocolate was an American invention, so it's not too surprising that American tastes differ from their European counterparts.
