Nonbelievers and believers alike have to agree that religion has a lot influence on our culture, and it includes the arts. Especially the arts. Movies often depict religion, characters who practice some sort of religion, a scene that has parallels to religious stories, etc. All throughout Star Trek we see this.

Star Trek III for instance deals with reincarnation. It's a very religious movie. Even if the religion is fictional it has its symbolic roots in real life religion.

Star Trek also shows a possible depiction of our future. And what I don't see is very many present day religious sects. Such a scenario would be a very interesting discussion thread here. I realize the way the discussion could end up taking a turn for the worst. But like I said, a lot of discussion on Star Trek has turned bad, even started bad, without religious topic.
