Another thing to consider is that if you just got them, they may not be used to their new habitat. One might even say they're a bit traumatized right now. Not sure I'd be too happy is suddenly I was plucked out from my little cage and then carried off some unimaginable distance and then placed in a different cage. So they may simply be rather shy for the moment. After a while they'll probably lighten up and come up. This could explain why you're seeing them burrowing now when at the pet store you didn't observe this kind of behavior. I remember my very first cat wouldn't come out from under the bed for days when we first got him. Worried the hell out of me for a while.
