Conan the Barbarian is a guilty pleasure of mine. I remember being so psyched when Schwarzenegger was cast because OMG! he looked like he was born to play that role. And director Milius did such a great with (almost) everything- costumes, weaponry, battle staging, locations. But after the long buildup to seeing the adult Conan, when ol' Arnie opened his mouth with the line "Crush your enemies, drive them away and hear the lamentations of their women!", or what ever it was, I burst out laughing uncontrollably! I probably would've been chased out of the theater accept the rest of the audience joined in with me! Schwarzenegger's acting was
sooo bad in that movie. I became an Arnie fan with Terminator , though, but Conan the Barbarian will always be a (near) comedy to me.
The decapitation of his mother was
very affecting and a great,
great shot.
