Star Trek / Firefly.
Could work in the same Universe, with the settlers that left Earth to colonize the Firefly system being lost from history until the Enterprise rediscovers them. The Enterprise ends up on the pointy end of a Reaver attack and the only man who can help them is a renegade named Malcolm Reynolds.
