Dislike the new phasers because of the rotating barrel and the chrome colour, however do like the basic shape. The rotating barrell may look "cool" to the producers/director (certainly not to me!!)...

Overall I agree that the concepts that the sound design were inspired, especially compared to previous Treks, but the actual sound effects themselves were mostly a large letdown.
