There are good moments, but overall it is a dud. Issac Asimov was a consultant on it, and Alan Dean Foster wrote the story it was based on, hence the strong scifi concept.

2) They didn't beam down because the drill was preventing beaming down. That was one of the main points of the scene. (Remember?)
