I think they did a good job on the Defiant's bridge in that Mirror Universe ENT episode. It's surprising what some good lighting can pull off. You would have thought it would look corny after all...

Ah, I think they came up with the warp 13 thing because the alternate future Enterprise D, which could travel at 'warp 13', had a cloaking devise. Presumably because the Romulan empire had fallen....

The thing about Warp 10 itself is it wasn't actually meant to exist. It's not a warp value at all, it's an impossibility. Even if Q flung you from one corner of the universe to the other, on the warp...

No problem, it's always nice to meet a new fan.

I come from the UK myself, originally. We had a big 'Starfleet Ball' once a year in Bournemouth, a 3 day event you stayed in a hotel for. I haven't...

Hey Capt-Kirk, welcome to the forum.

Someone posted a good site with some high quality images from the trailer, a while back. You can thank them for this image, so far it's the best look at the...

The camera that's offline is different each time, but watching for long enough shows that mysterious corridor.

This isn't new though, is it? I've known about them for quite a while. But all the...

What I mean is, in the grand scheme of things I don't think it makes any difference where the Enterprise or its component parts were built, or how. As someone else said, they could have been really...

You know, that's one of the better ideas I've heard on this forum, if they could pull it off correctly. That's a very interesting idea.

I agree, that's just how I feel. Unless the film is all about bringing Kirk back, which I'm pretty sure it's not, it would just be a crazy side-plot that could derail the whole movie. I don't think...

Well, you certainly seem to care what level of technology they have, before you even know if it's well written or not.

I agree with that choice. Whether Mr Shatner would do it or not, I think having him appear as just a cameo would be a mistake. And unless the film is specifically about bringing Kirk back, it would...

I think even if a ship's components are built on Earth it may be constructed in orbit (which is what Gene Roddenberry seemed to indicate). The space shipyards would be for putting the pieces together...

I have no idea actually. I don't think we'll see just how the Enterprise or its parts get taken into space, but we might see it under construction or maybe upon completion in orbit or something. It...

Yeah, in ironically different ways.

To me, Star Trek is about being an optimistic view of the future, a future we can aspire to attain. But the last few movies have felt more like pure action...

Agreed. I did used to think that it worked as far as the TOS cast movies went, but a look back at TMP changed my mind. And ST:III has plenty of moments that make it better.

Hm... I probably do prefer Star Trek, but I like Star Wars just fine too. I wouldn't say I love Star Wars though, so I don't know if that counts.

I think they've been getting better. Spider-man 3 was a bit of a let down, comparable to how I felt after Nemesis actually. But the first two really breathed new life into the idea of superhero...

Good points. You have to be careful with time travel, it can be done well or it can be done poorly. Star Trek has a bad habit of using time travel as an instant reset button, an excuse to kill...

Hmm.. From a realist point of view, it's harder to say. The only one I'm excited for is Star Trek, but comic fans can rush a film in force, and even though it just sounds like a money-making thing, a...

I wouldn't say they're omitting space shipyards. But to be honest I didn't think they'd actually show how they get the Enterprise or its components into space anyway, it's probably not important....
