One thing that would have made the movie was Kirks first Captains Log: Agree??
 

We never got a Log from Captain Pike but we did get a log from Spock explaining the loss of Vulcan. What would have made the movie before it ended was when Kirk took command of the Enterprise, he should have initiated a Captains Log before they went to warp. I mean wouldnt it have been memoriable to hear Kirks first ever Captains Log? I remember on DS9 when Sisko went from Commander to Captain he made his first Captains Log in that excellent episode.

Apparently the writers didnt think he needed too.

He made a log entry after being stranded on Delta Vega... not captain at that stage though.

We got Spock doing the classic voice-over at the end, which was more than adequate for me.

He probably had to lay a "Captains log" right before he entered the bridge as Captain for the first time. XD

Maybe it was filmed, but not used. I figured since this was an "origins" film of sorts, it may have been deemed not to be needed.

I can only speak for myself of course, but if I didn't notice it then I feel it wasn't needed. He wasn't officially Captain until the very end.

'Acting Captain's Log' just doesn't seem right. Though I could have lived with them swapping Nimoy's 'Final Frontier' for Pine doing it.

Did we ever actually see the "head" this time out?
