What should be the largest banner size?
 

Just curios what every one things the largest banner size should be. I have seen forums with HUGE ones and forums with only tiny one or none. I cant say any really bother me unless they are very very tall.

I think that 200 x 750 is probably a good size given modern monitor resolutions (and taking into account our friends with lesser resolution). It does bother me when you've got people with sig images that cover my entire window.

I agree sounds like a good size considering the the resolution most people are running now.

I would prefer they be about 200 x 700.

Why 700 instead of 750?

Large banners really reduce the legibility of a forum. Most every banner I see here is large enough to be a nuisance, very much like driving along a highway and seeing one billboard after another - except that every second or third billboard is identical to a previous one.

Such things have rendered the SCIFI Channel forums, for example, unreadable and unusable.

At least advertising banners stay mainly in one position on a page - top or to the side. User banners are like turning most of the forum over to advertising.

I'd turn 'em off altogether.

That said, I don't expect that anything will change.

Well I don't envy ST Redshirt. Its impossible to please everyone and not just on banners I mean on ever thing:)

That's for sure. Redshirt, stick to your guns if and when you lay down the law. And don't be afraid to knock a few heads. ;)

I agree with SP, there should be signature restrictions for sure other wise it makes the forum hard to read.
