i want to know why on the first night at the museam he had a gf and now on this secong one why he got a new gf or about to have one it dont makes sence they ruined it i think it was funny but the messed up the story line

Could be they broke up for some reason? (Havn't seen the movie yet.)

When I saw the first one I had a GF. When I see the new one I'll be seeing it with my new one.

It's kind of like a tagline...the same as how in the Harry Potter movies, we always find Harry at his Aunt and Uncle's house, before he heads to Hogwarts.

It's a way of showing that he is still a loser in the girl department, even though he managed to handle what happened at the Museum...

Maybe Carla Gugino was busy?
