Overseas Markets
What do you think it will take to make Trek as popular in overseas markets as say Star Wars or the Xmen movies or Harry Potter etc.? I can't see why it isn't, especially with this film.

Because people like a good spectacle and Star Trek, despite being a great sci-fi, isn't really known for that.
This Trek certainly pushed in areas that more mainstream audiences like... but I guess foreign markets don't want to buy simply because it has "Trek" in its name. |
Various people have brought up a good point that it's very American. Maybe that's why? It's part of America's pop culture but not really anyone elses.
...Is "elses" a word? |

You'd think they'd have 'heard the news' about this one. Did Paramount run the 'This is not your father's Star Trek' promos around the world? |
"I never watched Star Trek"
"Star Trek has never been interesting" |

Better than in others, but still not good enough.

On a funny note, I just now remembered that the name "Nero" wasn't first used by Star Trek...
