Get Smart 2008
 

Fortunately after a few years of drought there are a few good movies i am excited about this year. One of those being Get Smart.
Often films like this are done as a cheesy one off but it looks like they are really going to do this right. If so it could mean a series of sequals. I hope so.

Anyone else excited about this movie?

Steve Carell is the perfect choice for Maxwell Smart and Anne Hathaway will do "nicely" as Agent 99. I see Bernie Kopell from the original series will cameo. Bill Murray as Agent 13 should be a riot.

I am surprised at the number of big names associated with the film actually. Not just the actors but the whole team is made up of those involved with some pretty huge movies.

If anyone saw the original series of get smart, the narrator made pun. he said:
"there is a fine balance between chaos and control"
KAOS=chaos: the bad crime organization
KONTROL=control the organization Agent 86 works for.

Anyone get it?
Still a hilarious trailer. Carell is dynamite!

Plus Mel Brooks is writing in this too, so hopefully the movie will maintain the same spirit.
However, would a shoe phone still be seen as funny today?

Terence Stamp is only 6 years younger than Bernie Kopell. I wonder why they didn't just have Kopell reprise the role.

Mel Brooks did some consulting towards the end of the film. Originally, the producers tried to make it so they didn't even have to recognize Brooks or Buck Henry as creators of the series. When they lost that, they tried to get them involved.

Having said that, I am lookign ahead to this film, and I hope it works. Anne Hathaway was a good choice for 99, she has that same sense of fashion that Barbara Feldon had. I hope it works!!

I didn't know Brooks was actually involved...maybe I might see it after all then.

Anne Hathaway is mad hot...not sure if Carrell has the same quality Don Adams did, but we'll see if they get it right or if they missed it by THAT much...

Looks like a fun movie.
