Very sad news, the very first film I saw in a movie theater was Jaws. RIP Roy.

I was very sad to hear of Roy's passing. "Jaws" and "2010" are two of my favorite movies. My Mother is also suffering from Multiple Myeloma, which is what Mr. Scheider died from. According to Carl Gottlieb, one of the screenwriters of "Jaws", it was Roy who ad-libbed the famous line: "You're gonna need a bigger boat." The role he will always be remembered for, Sheriff Martin Brody.

That is sad news to hear.

I remember him in Jaws, and one of my favorite shows of the 90's, Sea Quest DSV.

I was very sad when I read about his passing this morning. I loved him in lots of movies and tv shows. It's definitely a loss.

How very sad, Jaws is one of my very favorite movies. Mr Scheider played Dustin Hoffmans big brother in The Marathon Man, another of my favorties. RIP Roy!!!!

A loss indeed...

I think the only thing I saw Schieder in was Seaquest DSV. That was a great series, before they ruined it in the 3rd season.

RIP :(

Scheider was a fantastic actor, I'm truly sorry to see he's gone. He always elevated anything he was in to a higher level.

Ready Room: It's "Scheider", not "Schnieder" :)

I too have only seen him in SeaQuest (I was just watching it on DVD last month! I was thinking that he would have made an EXCELLENT Starship commander; he just has that stigma...)

Great actor; great loss.
