Firefly and Serenity
I've noticed a few mentions of the Joss Whedon series Firefly and the Serenity movie. So since it seemed to be a show that a few people here are fans of, I thought I might start of a little thread for it on it's own.
(Forgive me if one already existed, but there seemed to be none active at this time). So - have at it! |
Yesterday, I watched serenity for the first time!
They had SOUND in space! That was disappointing, after the eerie silent scenes in the series... |
I know! Shame that got changed! What did you think about the film though?

it's only my opinion but...
great series. I only became aware of it after the dvd box set became available. Shame it was cancelled.

I followed it from first airing on TV.
Tried to get a female friend interested when the ex and I were visiting her. Even resorted to playing the "it's by the Buffy and Angel guy. You like Buffy and Angel" card and still no go. She was even a Trek fan, but once the horses and starships got mixed she said "ugh". Of course her husband uttered the same "ugh" when I tried to get him interested in watching the Battlestar Galactica mini-series. It was cutting into his Playstation time. They were funny people. Tastes are what they are though. |
I absolutely loved Firefly the series. It was indeed unique, and had Joss Whedon's signature brand of humor that I came to love from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Serenity, whilst having an awesome story, just felt like a minimalist jump to the big screen. It is VERY enjoyable on DVD/Blu-Ray, or even the Playstation Portable UMD format. I am eagerly awaiting getting Firefly and Serenity on Blu-Ray. |
I enjoyed Firefly and Serenity to an incredible degree. It combined the rough and tough of the West with Sci-fi technology. That on its own is fantastic but they also removed those dreaded accents and those cowboy hats. Hooray For Joss
