Future past?

It seems funny to me that some people said that Star Trek needed to move forward not backward as with Enterprise and the new film is going backward again. I loved Enterprise but I'm not sure about younger crew of the original Star Trek show, since many of the crew would not have known each other before they were stationed on the ship. Even as a flashback of another time travel story why younger Kirk, Spock, Scotty..... I am a fan of Abrams but not sure about this movie at all.

To me, going back to it's roots when exploration of space was really cool could be a very good thing for a movie. It brings back that sense of awe.

Yeah, ST:1-6 all offered that. somehow TNG lost that since of exploration. lol, Picard even asked the very question in Insurrection.

exactly. I think that really is what captured so many audiences with the first couple treks. going into the unknown. It went all downhill from there because that sense of exploration was lost. the only exception to this was Voyager (which I really liked btw). The issue I had with Voyager however, was you knew how it was going to end. They set up the end of the series on the very first episode.
