Is the number 9 or its multiples significant? Or are there others?

If there are discussions about the significance (if any) of the number 9 in the Star Trek 'verse, I didn't pay attention to 'em until now. So if there is some explanation/discussion about this subject elsewhere, could ya direct me to it? That would be great! :)

Anyway, the main question is this: Is the number 9 or its multiples significant somehow whenever it's used in the Star Trek 'verse?

If it is significant, why? For instance, was the number 9 Roddenberry's favorite number? I just happened to notice it because, for some reason, in another show that I appreciate, HEROES, the number 9 is supposed to be significant.

Actually, there are only a few nines or multiples that I can think of off the top of my head (though there are probably tons more), actually: NCC-1701, Deep Space 9, Seven of Nine...

Then, just searchin' startrek.com, I found these random ones (and including an explanation about the "1701" designation first):
The reason for the letter and number designation for the Enterprise
Seven of Nine was from Tendara Colony, SD 25479
The U.S.S. Defiant NX-74205
The U.S.S. Defiant NCC-1764 had an end in 2268:
Quote:

Caught in a spatial interphase in 2268, near Tholian territory, the U.S.S. Defiant was lost between dimensions for several hours, until it finally faded forever into interspace.
Actually there are a few ships whose number designations are multiples of 3, at least, also. Well, I'm probably making somethin' outta nothing, but I thought I'd ask.

If I am barkin' up the wrong tree, are there other numbers that "mean" something in the Star Trek 'verse, or are put in there for a reason?

47 has a far greater significance in TNG and VOY...

The number 33 hex (51 decimal) is significant in the VOY LCARS color codes. The R, G, and B values are multiples of that. They're somewhat different, however, in TNG, ENT, and some of DS9.

The buzz about 47 is covered in a Wikipedia article:

Hey thanks for the links about 47.

So all of the multiples of 3 or 9 are just noticeable to me, but aren't there for any particular reason or purpose?

Oh well- just curious.
