OMG! Canon alert everyone!!!
Just played the Trek trailer in slow mo and i could see at least 8 seperate phaser beams in 3 seconds!!!! Now JJ thats screwing around too much. This is not Star Wars and its multiple laser pods that keep shooting randomly! Now i know why Pike says "Prepare to fire all weapons" No use of saying fire phasers on said target when it seems the targeting mechanism is on auto fire. Now i can understand why its better for the computer to fire when needed as its quick and deadly. [ i see the Kelvin blowing up the green weapon of the Narada, Nero's ship ] But still Trek has had the classic Captain decides where to shoot mentality, which gives its Captain a glorious aura of Power rather than being computer warriors

Me thinks you've done too much analysis.

A lot of interpretation of ONE shot. I prefer to wait to see the scene in CONTEXT ...

Well, there seems to be some conflict about whether to see the movie at all . . .

Personally, i will go see this movie 100% 2 or 3 times atleast. Just its so weird after seeing soooo many trek battles with so less phaser fire its interesting to see 1 ship giving so much fire work. It looks gr8!!!! But yet feels like the Death Star shooting off tie fighters. Maybe thats what the Kelvin is doing, the Narada shoots off missile like weapons and the phasers are at half or 1/4th strength acting like a missle defense system

I did get a little sense of Star Wars prequel in the battle scenes on the trailer, but who cares, it's Trek!

The writers said they wanted to add the three-dimensional space feeling of SW to the more two-dimensional sub-marine like Trek space feeling. That sounds fine.
Of course if they also add the bad dialogue from SW, this would be bad. But there is nothing which indicates that they will copy SW's bad writing.
