Trailer and Poster...Meh...

From what I've seen in the teaser trailer, I am not impressed. I am a bit skeptical...not going to lie. And from this poster, yes I like it...but it yells Sherlock Holmes Meets The Dark Knight Rises rather than Star Trek. Let's just hope they don't forget that this is after all a Star Trek film at heart...

To each his own I guess. Its very much still Trek though and it will be highly successful at the box office.

Oh, I'm sure of it.

First, I think it is unfair to nail Cumberbatch down to his most popular role. He is a versatile actor.
Second, like The Dark Knight Rises and like the previous movie this will be an action movie with a mediocre story. If you expect nothing else you will probably leave the theatre satisfied. If you expect a Star Trek movie, i.e. a sci-fi movie with a decent story, you will probably be disappointed.

Well, for your information, I love Sherlock. It's nothing personal to his acting ability. I am speaking in terms of Star Trek itself.

That depends on how you felt about the last one, we don't all share your opinion about it.

As I've always said: Star Trek means different things to different people. :)

This is perfectly true but it's extremely discussion 'friendly' on whether or not the suggestion/implication/belief the pre-Abrams films all had better stories or not than what may be in Star Trek Into Darkness or was in Star Trek in 2009 is the case or not! Like what episodes are good and which aren't, or which series is good and which isn't.

It's one of those hardy subjects that NEVER goes away. Lol!

I'm sure come summer we will be arguing the merits of "Darkness" as well

kevin 12-08-2012 09:21 AM

Totally! And I have no idea what words I'll be using come the time! Although I have to say the great teaser has put it right front in my mind again now there's some footage out there. And tantalising footage at that!
