I dunno... we're worried about the color of Scotty's uniform based on a video the actor took on set? If JJ went to the doctor complaining that his stools were the wrong color, it would probably make the site as Trek-related news.

It rarely takes much more than a flicker of Trek 'news' to have the internet blaze up with theories.

MTV's blurb with their run of the pics is correct...that IS a Starfleet insignia on Cumberbatch's shirt...

Look at the stunt double's shirt...it's the same kind of black tunic that Pine wore through most of the first movie:

Perhaps Cumberbatch is Finnegan?

It seems Gary Mitchell is ruled out because IDW's comic is supposedly tied in to the whole New Timeline business thanks to Orci & Kurtzman's involvement with it and they've already done "WNMHGB," so the going rumor today is he may be Charlie Evans. Remember, he wore a Starfleet tunic in "Charlie X."

Of course that could change quickly. He could be a Starfleet officer gone bad like Garth of Izar or Ron Tracy.

Or Khan....oh.....wait.
