When the new movie comes out, will you see it in 3D or 2D the first time?
I was thinking about this today. I'm generally not a real big fan of the 3D movie experience. I hate wearing the glasses, and I don't think it adds much to the movie going experience. With all that in mind, I'll probably see it in 2D the first time, then eventually go into the city to see it in IMAX. What say you, fellow fans of Trek?

I'm holding off on that decision until the first footage starts to emerge, trailers etc that will give a sense of the actual film itself.
I generally don't go to 3D versions of films (I think the last time I did was 2010 when I saw Avatar for the final time) and prefer the 2D. Depends how many times I may want to see the film as well. If it was more than once I could do a 3D comp but would probably go to the 2D first. |
2D Only… until they perfect holographic 3D… or 3D laser eye surgery so you don't have to wear freaking glasses!

Yeah, I really do hate the glasses. They mute the colors and the brightness as well.

3D's a novelty still and in its infancy.

I'm looking at a thread on a message board for NY Giants fans right now about 3D TV's. It's what gave me the idea for this thread. Anywho, I really can't imagine sitting around my living room wearing those stupid glasses to watch TV!

I definitely wouldn't buy a 3D TV until they've solved the issue of having to wear the glasses at home.
I don't really mind them for a couple of hours in a cinema though. There's just hasn't been a film presented in 3D in ages that I felt was worth paying the extra for. Apparently there were generally good things said about 'Transformers: Dark of the Moon' and 'Hugo' and their use of 3D. But I still went to see them in 2D. |
The last movie I saw in 3D was "The Darkest Hour". That movie was terrible. No amount of extra dimensions were going to save that piece of garbage!
The 3D showing was the only option the theater I went to see it in was offering, hence why I saw it in 3D |
That did not look up to much.

It was pretty bad
