Difference in Battle Damage between ST WOK and ST SSP

Is it just me, or does the Enterprise look far more damaged in the beginning of Star Trek The Search for Spock than it did at the end of Star Trek the Wrath of Khan?

The other side of the Engineering section (the side that wasn't hit) seems to have more battle damage which seemed unrelated to the battle damage inflicted on it by the Reliant, as well as more "off screen" battle damage on the Saucer section of the Enterprise.

Or am I just crazy?

No idea but it'd make perfect sense. In TWOK you don't have to visually emphasize the damage as you observe it as well as its consequences, Preston's death. In TSFS you have to remind the audience of what happened last time respectively clearly point out to the ones who have not seen the previous movie that the Enterprise has been involved in a nasty battle.

Hmm… I'll investigate…

Yes.

I could never tell. The model seems to be lit differently starting with the third film.

It's almost like they had other battles between STWOK and STSSP

I think it was slightly more beat up looking, but I'd have to watch the two films again and pay attention to that.
