Tron Legacy

Loved it. Loved every minute of it. Not the greatest movie ever...but a damn good one.
Excellent visual effects, and a much darker story...not so dark that it's hopeless, but dark enough to satiate the need for a meatier tale.
It clocks in at 2hrs and 7 minutes, and is awesome all the way through. Nice little nods to the original film.
They really did a bang up job making Jeff Bridges look 30 years younger for his role as a younger Kevin Flynn, and as Clu. And of course, we have Flynn at his current age.
At least the story didn't entirely devolve into teen angst of "why did my father leave me?" and all that.
The IMAX 3D presentation was 16 bucks....but for me, it was worth every penny. When this hits blu-ray, I'm gettin' it.
THIS is the movie CGI was made for!

Cool, can't wait to see it! Zim was giving the movie high marks on another thread as well.

Thanks for the review Martok.

I'm not really a particular Tron fan, and it's been many years since I saw the first film, so I'm not going to be first in line to watch it.

But over the Christmas holidays I'll probably try and check it out.

Most of the reviews I've read have been fairly consistent in that it looks good (the CGI and the use of 3D) but that the story/acting etc are quite weak.

Anyways, I'll see it eventually.

:) I thought the acting was fine...and the story was much stronger than the original film. I do hope everyone who goes and sees this will enjoy it. Like I said, not the greatest film ever, but a damn good one. :)

Martok, I agree totally! I took my son to see it last night and it was fantastic! I wasn't overly impressed with the 3D, though. And the de-aged Jeff Bridges was cool, but sort of "odd" looking to me. But overall, it was a great movie. And you didn't have to see the first one to understand what was going on. But like I said, if you've seen the first movie, fan or not, you MUST see this one:)

I'm glad you and your son enjoyed it. Yes, TRON fans MUST see this! :)

I saw it on Friday and really enjoyed it. It's not a very complex story but it's decent and it's visually beautiful. The 3D aspect was a bit of a let down because they really didn't do much with it. I honestly don't think you would lose much if you see it 2D. Overall very enjoyable and as a fan of the first one very stratifying.

Saw it on sunday with the Family.
We all agreed that it was a bit flat. Very simple Plot. Get out. We also agreed it was very confusing on who was who even with the back story on what had happened before. We weren't sure who Tron was but I had a good idea who Clue was. I also think the girls role was a bit flimsy.

We also agreed it's an incredible Soundtrack...Mass Effect like but beyond.

Did you not see the original film?
