When did a movie you wanted to see go South for you?
 

Hi, folks.

Excluding Star Trek '09 from this topic....I'm curious:

Here's the scenario...

You just went to see a movie that you'd had some sense of anticipation for. (It can be any genre...not just sci-fi). You sat in your seat, popcorn and drink in hand, the lights go down, your senses go up, and boom...the movie you've been eager to see has started.

But, something's happened. Oh my God. The movie took a turn to the South. Somewhere in the movie, everything just went tango uniform for you, and the movie you spent your hard earned bucks to see suddenly became a waste of two-hours for you. You now officially feel like you've lost a couple hours of your life (not to mention 8 to 15 bucks).

So, pick a movie you were excited to go see (again EXCLUDING Star Trek '09) either recently or at any point in the near or distant past, and tell me when that movie just bombed out for you. When did it leave that bitter taste in your mouth?

At first I didn´t know what "going South" means, but than I understood....

Well...
Superman returns
The Time Machine (the one from 2002! The one from 1960 is one of my alltime favorites)
And a few others...

How about AVATAR! What a crock. THEY USED THE PLOT FOR DANCES WITH WOLVES FFS! ONLY IN SPACE!

:) Ok,.....now, if you can remember, where exactly was it in those stories where the movies started going south for you?

To give an example:

I have to admit, I damn near walked out on Indy 4 myself, but of course, had to stick around to see how it all turned out. I think it started turning south for me just with the introduction of Indy's son. I mean, it's obviously not impossible in the story for Indy to have had spawn fry after all these years, but I guess it was the characterization of said son. The story felt more like X-files than Indiana Jones....although not a bad thing, Indy should still have its own identity. Ultimately, the movie just managed to redeem itself, but the lightning in a bottle that was the first three movies were ultimately gone.

And the Tomb Raider movie:

I almost walked out on it, largely for one aesthetic reason: Lara Croft is known for wearing short shorts...and Angelina (I'm so artsy fartsy I don't feel like wearing hotpants throughout the movie because I'm Angelina "I'm so artsy fartsy I don't feel like---oops) Jolie only wore them for like the first nine minutes, and that was it. The story was ok, and Miss Jolie did an okay job with some of the acting out of the part, but overall, I just didn't see the Lara Croft I knew and loved. I didn't even bother with the second movie, and have no desire to even check it out.

The Time Machine: I only like the music and some SFX-shots, the rest is :thumbdown::thumbdown:

Superman returns: I only like the sequence where Superman saves the plane and Brandon Routh´s performance, the rest is:thumbdown::thumbdown:

My feelings exactly on those films.
